Install the chat widget on Shopify

By adding the Chaport chat widget to your Shopify store, you’ll be able to communicate with your customers in real time, automate support with chatbots, and convert more visitors into paying customers.

Method #1. Installation via Shopify plugin

The best way to install Chaport on your store is by using our official Shopify app. This method ensures seamless integration and automatically passes visitor info — including names, emails, phone numbers, and cart items — into the chat.

  1. Log in to your Shopify account and select the store where you want to install Chaport.
  2. Find the Chaport app in the Shopify App Store.
  3. Click Install.

  1. Review the permissions and click Install again.
  2. You will be redirected to Chaport. Log in to your account or sign up if you don’t have one yet.
  3. You will receive an automatic message from the Chaport bot with instructions. Follow the link provided.
  4. You will be redirected to the Shopify theme editor. Make sure the chat widget is activated in the “App embeds” section and click Save.

  1. Open your store and make sure the chat icon is displayed in the lower right corner.
  2. Done!

Customizing the chat (optional)

If needed, you can use our API to further customize the chat. For example, you can adjust the chat widget appearance, set up assignment rules, or create custom triggers for auto-invitations.

You can add the API snippet in the Shopify theme editor during the installation process or later. The code should be added to the “Custom Code” field in the “App embeds” section.

Method #2. Manual installation

You can also install Chaport manually by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your Chaport account or sign up if you don’t have one yet.
  2. Go to Settings → Installation code and copy the installation code.
  3. Log in to your Shopify account and select the store where you want to install Chaport.
  4. Go to Online store → Themes → Actions → Edit Code → Layout → theme.liquid.
  5. Paste Chaport’s installation code before the closing </body> tag.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Done!
